Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to East Ayrshire Council's Customer Services Platform (CSP) https://our.east-ayrshire.gov.uk

This platform is partially managed by East Ayrshire Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this platform, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using the browser or mobile device
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the platform using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the platform using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the platform using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We've also made the platform text as simple as possible to understand and we are continually reviewing content.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this platform is:

Where we are legally required to feature third party content or functionality, we cannot reasonably accept responsibility for ensuring it meets accessibility standards. However, where it is within our control, we will make every reasonable effort to work towards meeting accessibility requirements within the platform.

Although largely accessible, there may be outstanding areas on the platform that may require review. Some are the responsibility of the software supplier (Granicus), while some are dependent on individual form design. We continue to review our online forms using a combination of automated and manual testing techniques to identify and resolve any outstanding issues.

Compliance status:

We have taken the following measures to ensure the platform is WCAG 2.2 level AA compliant.

  • Clear and Descriptive Labels: Each form field has a clear and descriptive label to ensure users understand what information is required.
  • Keyboard Navigability: Our forms can be navigated using a keyboard alone, allowing users who cannot use a mouse to complete them.
  • Clear and Informative Alerts: Used to communicate an important message to the user. The browser will send out an accessible alert event to assistive technology products which can then notify the user.
  • Error Identification and Suggestions: Error messages are clear and provide guidance on how to correct mistakes, ensuring users can easily understand and fix errors.
  • Responsive Design: Our forms are designed to be responsive, ensuring they are usable on various devices and screen sizes.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided to help users understand which form field they are interacting with.
  • Contrast and Readability: We ensure sufficient colour contrast between text and background to enhance readability for users with visual impairments.
